The Long Awaited Post is HERE!

WAZ SUP PEEPS!

Finally you're reading my post right?
FYI, i'm the one going to step down, less-known VP that i believe most of YOU, the freshies doesn't know about!
Whichever the reason may be, i know it's real unlucky of you to not know me! HAHAH! =p

Ahhhh.. i know you must be feeling real happy and excited about this post more than the rest already right?

but being kinda unsure whether to talk about tennis or other stuffs, i guess i shall begin talking about tennis stuffs then! If you wanna chat about other stuffs, you can always feel free to come and chat with me! =Y

Alrightyyyyyy, i shall try talking about my tennis experience then..

What i've gone through in the past is probably what most of you people have been through or are going through.. Starting out tennis only when we're in poly, finding it real fun and interesting, or maybe more towards COOL-NESS for the guys, but when we tried to play it, it will only get our face thrown around in the courts in front of unknown people instead of being that totally awesome and cool dude like the seniors. HAHA! =P

It was definitely not easy to be able to play like them, since we do not have the privilege of playing tennis when we were younger, but i know that at least we can now be able to play TENNIS! =D

i know it ain't easy when you have the chance to play with the seniors, because of you feeling really shy and scared that you may disappoint them or make them pissed off when you fail to hit nice balls. As much as how the situation in your mind and heart can be like, i can seriously tell you that if you're about to maintain your coolness, you will definitely get better and better.

Sometimes, or maybe most of the time, when you're scared, you can totally not perform well! Once you can overcome it, i'm sure you've improved a level in TENNIS! =D

Hmmmm.. i think this post is getting a little too longggg.. i shall see whether to post another one in the future depending on how the response is like! (or probably this could be the one and only post i am going to blog about!) =Y

ANNOUNCEMENT: Tennis Camp

All tennis campers please take note!

Please come and take your indemnity form from me by NEXT WEEK.

You can do so at these times:
During trainings (Monday & Thursday)
Wed, 8 Dec from 4-6pm at Tennis Club House (Canteen 2 block, level 3 facing the overhead bridge to tennis court)

My contact number is 98378999,
If you are unable to collect your forms from me on those days, please contact me

Hello Hello! :D

how's school life treating you so far?
life has been... UBERLY BUSY for me (which is why you don't see me in the courts)
and i sincerely apologize.

okay, so what shall we talk about this week?
i've just finished reading this book recently, it's called "Tuesdays with Morrie"

so let me tell you what i've learnt from the book.
i thought that it was a boring book at the start, but after awhile of reading it, i thought it was quite okay.

it's actually a very touching book, and you can totally see how a person develops from there.

i don't wanna leak out too much info (otherwise people say i spoiler...) but i wanna just tell you all that you should cherish everyday that you have, and don't waste each day away. before reading this book, i thought life was meaningless, and it was a complete waste of time. but after reading this book, my views totally changed. even drinking a cup of coffee early in the morning can be appreciated if you know how to. it had taught me how much in life that i have not done, instead of what i should do with my life.

so read this book, and cherish your life. don't spend your life meaningless-ly away. appreciate every day. don't take anything for granted.

love all! :D

Wan Qi

Yes, school is starting, so are you ready for it?

Not surprisingly, our technically 2 months hols is ending, when it felt like it had started like just yesterday!
Hope that everybody had a fruitful holiday, that consists not only of playing! :D

So yeahs, I am gonna share with you this picture or phrase (whatever you call it) that I have found online at this website. I don't know if anyone had seen it before, but yeahs.

The phrase that really caught my eye out of the many phrases that I have seen there was this: Make things happen, Don't wait for things to happen.
And well, what attracted me to this phrase was not only that it was fairytale-looking because of the wand or whatever. NO. What caught me to it was because I thought that this phrase is very meaningful. Not only can this phrase be applied to life itself as a whole, but when you apply it individually, be it to a situation, or tennis, maybe a relationship, or stress... You can still apply the phrase to it and it can help you get through...

And I believe that this is a very encouraging phrase when you are feeling down, or upset, or when you think that life has no meaning to it at all. Because you know that just something that you do could actually change the entire situation.

It gives you the strength to believe that you can change the world. And maybe you can...

So, let's start the new school term with this phrase in your mind. Copy it down somewhere, or write it in your palm, or stick it on your forehead to give you strength and the ability to let you pull through the new school term unharmed.

Believe you can do it, and you will.

Lastly, before I end off this entry, just introducing a song to you, by MC Mong (feat. Lisa). It's in this youtube link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6jxf8NFlpIU\

Just go listen to it. Enjoy the last of your hols!

Movies before school starts!

Hello everyone.

School is going to start again soon. Don't know if everyone have enjoyed their holidays! I guess most people would think that the holiday is too short even though is almost 3 months long -.- including the YOG hols.

Anyways, what's a better way to spend the last few days of your holidays than catching a nice movie! But there's not much movie out there now right =S

There's the Legend Of The Fist: The Return Of Chen Zhen which have been out for awhile already. I haven't watch it, wonder if it's good. I looks like a typical fighting show again with lots of kung fu action like the previous 2 Ip Man. I think its a little over.., the way they are trying to make use of the Ip Man hype. At first Ip Man 1 was good, then Ip Man 2 makes me excited and want to watch it too. Then comes the young version of Ip Man -.-... the one that is NOT starring Donnie Yen. Then now he go act some similar to Bruce Lee movie. Lol. The rating is good though.

Other than that movie, there is 2 really great chinese movies that I would recommend watching. I have watched them myself. Er one is Detective Dee which is really good. The story line is nice and the action is good too, except one part where they are fighting and I think the effect is too weird cause I don't understand what is going on. And there is also Reign of Assassins! The trailer looks nice. The movie is great too... only until the later part where you realise... the whole movie revolves around an eunuch trying to regain his lost private part... Yea it's stupid but the movie is nice.

Some good ang moh movies I think will be very worth watching would be Eat, Pray, Love & The Other Guys. The first movie would be a story about life and romance I guess. I think the book would be alot better than the movie though, but if you are not a reader, I guess watching the movie would suffice. The second movie seems to have rather high ratings also... it stars The Rock (now calls himself Dwayne Jonhson.. Fancy name). From the comments I read I think it's just the usual funny movie that is nice to watch with friends. The trailer is pretty funny, though I think it took the few funniest parts out of the whole movie.

Movies I will NOT watch will be Buried (heard that it's a movie with only 1 scene, a guy in the coffin) and Charlie St Cloud (Watch only if you love Zac Efron).

Of course there are many other movies out there now like Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and The Girl Who Played With Fire. Hope you guys have enjoyed your holidays and maybe end it with a great movie!

Happy Holidays,
TK

P.S. Don't forget to pay $105 Tennis Fee, Coach needs to eat too.

Quotes for everybody

Hey guys!
ITS OCTOBER! A WHOLE NEW MONTH!!
Its me again weijie(: Im here to kick start a new month with a post

I have no idea what im going to talk about and so I am going to talk about a book i read recently with some quotes that i find them meaningful in your daily life and you might even use it as your motivation to play tennis better!

Here goes the first one, " No pain, no gain". Its a simple quote that almost all of you out there has heard of it before. The message is clear, if you do not work hard for what you desire, you will most likely not be able to achieve your goals. In tennis, you might think as chasing for every ball and not giving up. There is hope of winning a point when the ball is being played back. It would be tiring, but you would gain by winning the point or eventually the game. So remember this when you are about to give up on something.

"Genius is 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration". Roger Federer is no Genius in tennis without the training he has been through. Again, working hard is the key to success. So guys, attend training to improve yourself to become the best and perspire away!! :D

The last quote is " A life spent making mistakes is not only more honourable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing". I think this is the most important quote among these 3. Don't be afraid to make mistakes during training as u would become a better player while making them. You would be able to learn more rather than sticking to just one way which might not be the best. Learning through mistakes to me is the best way to remember them.

That's all for this week! Let me know how you think about this post!
Hope you like it(:

Club T is READY!

OK, We have just received the club T-shirts, so we should be distributing it to you guys this couple of weeks.

Anyway just some information from our supplier:
When washing the shirt, DO NOT scrub it (So I guess just put it in the washing machine...)
And also turn it inside out before you wash it or put it in the washing machine. I think because the printings will come out if you scratch it too much.

One last BIG reminder... If you have not paid for your shirt, please do so NEXT WEEK.
No money No shirt.

Holiday Trainings Resume

Exam week is over! Yay Holiday starts now. So does trainings.
Training starts from next week onwards, 12 September.

Training times are the same, Mondays & Thursdays - 4pm to 8pm
Saturdays - 10am to 1pm

Thursday, September 9, 2010

what do you wanna know? :D

HELLO PEOPLE!!!

exams are just over!
isn't it awesome?!?! :D

okay... training resumes AFTER exams okay?
don't be lazy and not come down uh... :D
(and NO. im not talking about myself)

hmmmm. so what shall we talk about this week?
okay! we shall talk about camp!!!

I am sure those that had read the post by TK a few weeks ago would know that we are having gonna have a tennis camp in DECEMBER!
awesome or what?

yes, the camp planning is still in progress, so book those days off your calendar and reserve them for the camp alright? :D
let me leak you into a little more on our camp...

do you know that the tennis club hadn't had a camp in like dunno how many freaking years?!
so it's like, finally someone is organising a camp!
so, appreciate our kind efforts and do come down for the camp alright?

it took us a lot of time and effort to plan for the camp...
OKAY. ENOUGH CRAP. NOW FOR THE DETAILS!

other than a barbeque, which we are still planning in progress and thinking of back up plans in case it rains! (so dear god, please don't let it rain on the first day please... or else!)
and what else?
hmmmm, there would be games played (definitely) and hopefully you would enjoy the games that we have planned.
and no, don't think that movie watching is BORING. cuz i am assuring you, it's not. and nopes, it is not to kill time either. it is gonna be exciting...
and what else is awesome about this camp? we would be trying to book the camp in the loft, so that you all would get great accommodations! (in case you don't know what is the loft, GOOGLE IT... nahs. im kidding. im telling YOU! the loft is a place that you get to stay in school and it is something like an apartment all to yourself! (okay, maybe not. you may be sleeping with your friends! equally awesome right?) but nopes, guys and girls are NOT allowed to be sleeping together, in case you're thinking you can sleep with some hot people or something, yeah sure. just make sure they are the same sex with you.)

it's a short camp, really short. 3 days 2 nights only. it's just 3 days of fun and games.

okay. i think i've filled you with enough details, at least enough for you to want to come down for the camp right?
rest assured, you are guaranteed to have fun! :D

alright, enough for now. enjoy your holidays! (they are OFFICIALLY here!)

HEYHEYHEY PEOPLE! It's me again! (Jiexin)
HAHA. I know I know, you guys are waiting for my post right?
Rest assure, this post won't be as short as my previous one,
and of course, not as long as Mr Joshua's (:

Let's see, what should we talk about this week?
Hmm.
Hmmm.
Hmmmm.
Hmmmmm.
HMMMMMM.

Okay, shall tell you guys an enriching/meaningful line:
In order to succeed you must fail, so that you know what not to do the next time.
-Anthony J. D'Angelo

Sounds quite normal right, but it's quite true.
Let me share with you my very precious little experience (Please don't fall asleep!)
I was learning how to serve the right way during yesterday's training.
Honestly speaking, I failed like 38247984789475 times,
until I'm even quite frustrated by myself ):
Although I've not succeeded serving nice balls over the net,
but I got to know my mistakes and ...
I believe one day, I will do it, BECAUSE I'VE FAILED SO MANY TIMES!
HAHAHAHAHA!!! (Okay, i know not funny).

So people, it's okay to fail (but not too many times),
because you'll eventually succeed! (:
Don't give up on learning tennis, come for training,
fail once or twice, and soon enough, you'll find out that you're learning lots of things!

Not bad not bad, I think my post not bad, don't you guys think so?
Okay okay, I can hear claps and cheers everywhere now, don't praise me too much,
I'm a shy person (everyone 'knows' that).

Finally, I shall end my awesome post with a JOKE (:
'When I was born, the doctor came out to the waiting room and said to my father, I'm very sorry. We did everything we could. But he pulled through.' - Rodney Dangerfield

Tennis Muscles!

Sorry for not having a weekly post last week and that this post is a little late =S

Anyway, this week's (or should I say last week's) post is on how to train your Tennis Musclesssss!!!

A lot of your might think that if you want to hit a hard and fast ball, you need lots of arm muscles to swing the racket hard and fast so you can hit the ball real hard.
However, this might not be true. Yes you need arm muscles to hold the racket upright but more importantly, to hit hard, you need a great trunk (Core muscles).

Core muscles is the muscles around your mid-body, simply your abs and muscles around your waist and hips. The reason core muscles and flexibility around you core area is important is because when you swing your racket, you don't just swing your arm but you swing you whole body to allow for maximum swing distance, hence power. So it is to say that if you have a flexible core, you can swing your body more. And when you have a strong core, your total swing is hard. So combine them both, you will be able to hit hard.

A good example will be golf. Golf is a game where you don't swing your arm, but you swing your whole body. See how far the ball flies...

So if you want to hit a hard and fast ball, don't just pump your arms. Do more crunches and go for the planks!

Other than your core muscles, also train your leg muscles, the thighs and the calves so that you can maintain a low position throughout the match.

Alright! That's about it for this post. The information I give is based on some research I have done, not just my own opinion. But feel free to challenge anything you think is wrong! Put them down on the comments section. It will help everyone and make you look smart too!

Maybe another post next time I can post on how to train your Tennis Muscles.

The tentative date for the camp would be from 20 Dec to 22 Dec, during the 2 weeks term break next semester. So do take note to keep yourself free from these dates!

Anyways Tennis camp doesn't mean we will be playing tennis... instead, there will be many fun games in the camp and also movie watching! There will also be BBQ and maybe Camp T!

The objective of the camp is to bond all our members so we get to know one another, juniors to seniors and not just people of the same year.
So stay tuned and check our blog more often for more updates of the camp and other stuff about tennis!

Happy Holidays!

My First Ever Blog Post V^^V

ALOHA PEOPLE!

Joshie here:)this is like my first time doing this sort of thing so hopefully you guys wont be bored to sleep :D
Well what can i say, Its been quite an experience being the president of the tennis club. Learning lots of new stuff and knowing lots of ppl & TO ALL FREHIES! I'm really glad to know you guys and it really warms my heart to see some of you guy showing LOTS of dedication & interest to tennis.Really hope that you guys will stay with us for the second semester too!:D
However i feel that we as a club we can bond even more, I still see many members keeping to themselves or even their own friends(i know that's normal) BUT i just feel that you guys should talk to other members more and get to know each other BETTER (I'm referring to freshies and ehem* some seniors too)

FYI we usually have dinner after the lights off @ 9 @ bukit timah market(lots of delicious food there ;D), so for those who are not in a rush home, are more than welcome to join us for dinner/supper and chit chat together:):)

About the club-T, we will stop taking order in maybe a week or two. I have receive quite some feedback that design not nice ,dry-fit not good ,polo-T not nice..ROFL! ( seriously i dun know how it got voted the top design)ok its still going to be the tennis Club-T of 2010 because majority wins!LOL(FYI for those who are still worried it might turn out bad, DUN WORRY! once the sample is out if we find that its bad or weird we will most definitely do some editing to the design) The point that i actually want to put across is that i VALUE all of your feedback so if any of you guys have any suggestion whether it may be about the training or club events or whatever it maybe, I REALLY WANT TO HEAR THEM:):)so feel free to voice out your opinions(or troubles) to me or any of my wonderful committee members:):)

About the tennis camp, my committee & I will be doing our best to make it happen next semester during the mid-sem break in December so make sure to stay till than :) In the mean time which i have mention earlier if there is any outings or events you feel we should organise as a club..please please let us know!

Oh ya i would also like to share with you all a video which was introduced to me by walter(for the benefit of those who still don't know, walter is the old/perverted/guai lan-looking senior in our club LOL)
Ok this video is about foot-work which is very essential to every tennis player, yes i know its 36mins long! however after watching it i feel its very useful and is worth taking time off to watch :D:D

okok i know i have alot to crap BUT before i sign off i wanna share with you a joke/riddle because a lame joke a day keeps the docter away! LOL

-What is dark in colour , round and moves very slow on the tennis courts?
give up? the answer is NG JIE XIN! LOL

New Peeps & Tennis Fees!

Hi new members from Tennis Club! After next week's school team trials, it's finally time to pay your Tennis Fees!!! It's $105 total for club fund and coaching fees a semester. As we have told many of you earlier, it's really quite cheap if you bother to do some math on it. You do have to pay for Tennis Fees in order to be part of the club.

We do understand if some of you might not be able to pay $105 upfront. So if you have any problems, you can approach Joshua or other senior members and we can work something out with you. You can pay $50/$55 first and then another $50/$55 after the term break.

Remember, payment is due on Week 5, after school trials week and don't come for trainings next week!

Here are some photos of last 2 weeks training sessions! =) (try to find if you are inside)

Directions to Kismis Court

I have received some feedback that the directions and map on this blog is not as helpful as it's supposed to be. So here's more information to help you get there if you have trouble doing so.

Go to Canteen 2, beside the swimming pool. Canteen 2 is the Canteen nearest to the library and beside the sports complex (Gyms, squash courts, track...). If you get into the inner side of the canteen, you should be able to see the overhead bridge which gets you across the expressway.

Go pass the overhead bridge and you are at Kismis! =) Still have trouble? Ask someone or the food stall tenders for the overhead bridge. It's rather obvious.

If you still have trouble finding you way there on that day, take down our number and we can help you on the spot =)
